greyscale is set to release its 18th full length cd and this is by one of the busiest and most well respected newer stars in the scene, heavenchord. >o theos einai agapi< is 9 tracks deep of some of the most floaty and serene tracks in our discography. >cloud forest< opens up with a wonderful example of whats to lie ahead. its wide open layered chords arc and shimmer over a soothing spatial background. >deep dimensions< is prone to draw out emotions of long lost memories as you drift along to its echoed-out airy atmosphere. this album isnt fully beatless. there are a few remnants like on >summer grey session< which introduces a broken tech groove while >summer vibes< has you riding on warm waves of calming and peaceful dub goodness. >rare 3< strong chord work shows heavenchords adept craftmanship in this genre that is well beyond his years creating music. the depth created in this album might be its lasting impression. whats not there is as important as what is there. a true shining moment in production!

the well-respected hydergine run ranges label adds a talented phenom to its roster. san francisco dub techno artist federsen, has been making waves in the scene for over a decade now. with releases on greyscale, silent season, zeecc, and even back on thinner in 2009 among others, federsen continues to find himself on labels that can properly advocate his sound. highly influenced by the dub style recording craftsmanship and in an ultra-competitive genre, we at ranges feel that this is one to be heard that evolves the genre even further.>magnetosphere< focuses are wide-ranging on this release. from traditional inspired rhythms like in >relic< and the dub chord roots of >anyplace<, to the spatialness of >euradyce< & >vco<. the seriousness picks up a notch for the techier heads in the wicked sounds of >siricco<. we feel one of the key appeals to federsens sound on this full length is the ability for sounds to evolve organically while others dip, swell and flourish giving the tracks a great live allure. the combination of those strategies make the experience come alive for listeners. the deepness is on full display in epic tracks like the immersive >magnetic< & >l infinito<. there is certainly enough for the deep house fans in this output as well. >forms< & >cerulean< give off house elements while still firmly places itself in the dub techno sphere. we are sure you will love this release and we are very proud to bring it to you! federsen is in top form here on this long player. check it out! written and produced by chris kelly mastering: subosc studio writeup: tim humphrey

greyscale unveils its latest long player masterpiece! mood series regular altone, has had four eps credited to himself on the label in the past year alone. >forest land< is his first full length and its a deep journey with ten tracks of some of the strongest and most high-quality dub techno in the business. >hunt< & >ethereal night< are not for the faint of heart. these are some of the headiest and immersive tracks we have heard yet at the label. then there is >oak< & >pinecone< which hone in on and harken to a lost age of traditional dub from the mother land. enjoy being transported with >flying leaves< & >downpour< as they give off impressions of scenic landscapes from distant memories. altone then adds a good dancefloor number for those house lovers in the addictive groove >cold ground<. >pebble< is reminiscent of some of the best of intrusion with its gentle waves of chords that surround you like a warm blanket on a cold winters night. lastly, >morning dew< is a standout crescendo bringing the album to a triumphant closing is pure class. >forest land< is guaranteed to have something for everyone and to also impress the most hardened dub techno critics as well. altone is proving he is a name to keep an eye on!

subset is the featured artist for the 17th greyscale full-length. named >this quiet earth<, this 9 track heavyweight of dubby goodness offers a consistent variety of spatialness while the atmosphere clearly surrounds you with its innate charm. heavy chords are consistent characteristic here while the beats are strong and favor more of a steady low tempo. tracks like >the rivers are dry< and >trippy specs< are soaked in reverb with an old skool dub sound while >the community of worlds< and >two halves< are another pair of deep-seated scenic heaters. the steady static over many tracks give off a language of communication to the listener that balances the organic elements extremely well. >lucys sky dreams< is not unlike a classic echospace track with tremendous depth that has you on the edge of your seat. a gentle album across the board that still has a reserved serious tone to it. another fine addition to the camp, subsets debut with us is a memorable one.
